Hi guys, I have shown how to make Eco-friendly and edible Ganesh Idol for Ganesh Chaturthi. I have used modak dough and stuffed the dough with coconut jaggery filling. But, you can just make the idol with madak dough without stuffing or use the pidi kozhukattai dough(jaggery and rice flour dough). To fix the body parts in place, use some warm water.
I am leaving a short note on how to make the eco-friendly Ganesh idol but, please watch the video for clear instructions.

How to make the Ganesh idol:

Make a big lemon size balls of the rice dough for the body and six small lemon size balls for the legs, hands, head, and trunk. I used a wooden stick for the ivory. However, you could make the trunk with dough. If you’re stuffing the dough, then please stuff the dough at this time. First, take the big lemon size round and flatten at one end, place ball on a flat surface, this is going to be the Lord Ganesha’s body. To attach the legs, Create a small dent, on both sides of the lower part of the body. Take two small lemon size balls and make a cylindrical shape and create a small bent at the end for the foot, and, attach to the body. Similarly, create a cylindrical shape for the hands and, attach to the body. And attach the heat and trunk, insert the stick for ivory. For the ears, take a gooseberry size dough, flatten the dough and attach on both sides of the heat. So, the basic Ganesh idol is now ready. Use your creativity and decorate Lord Ganesh as you like.

Once everything is done, steam the Lord Ganesh idol for a few minutes until well cooked. After a few minutes open the steamer, make sure the Lord Ganesh idol is cooked, leave the steamer closed until cooled. Remove the Eco-friendly Lord Ganesh carefully and use the idol for Ganesh Chaturthi Pooja.
